Legrand HDBaseT Transmitters, Receivers Address Challenges With Long-Run HDMI And Much More
MIDDLETOWN, PA, September 4, 2012 – Legrand, the leader in home technologies and solutions, announced today its new HDBaseT transmitter and receiver for extending and enhancing HDMI distribution systems. HDBaseT easily and efficiently extends runs of HDMI to as much as 100 meters over standard Cat 6 cable, while also carrying control IR commands and Ethernet.

Legrand’s HDBaseT solution not only features full support for full 1080p 3D video (in addition to 1080i/720p/576p/576i/480p/480i) and all of the lossless multichannel audio formats supported by HDMI with no additional compression, but also offers HDCP1.2-compliant copy protection and 36-bit deep color. In addition, it features a backward IR channel to extend commands from the display back to the source device. Its fast Ethernet capabilities also make Legrand’s HDBaseT solution fully compatible with Internet enabled devices over a single Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable.
Legrand’s HDBaseT transmitter and receiver delivers all of this functionality with a minimal footprint; each measures just 111 x 75 x 23.5 mm (4.37 x 2.95 x 0.93 inches) each, and weighs less than 3kg (6.6 lbs.), making discreet installation a snap.
