Syracuse, NY, September 16, 2009 — Pass & Seymour/Legrand (P&S), a leading provider of electrical wiring devices and home systems, announces two of the newest additions to its PlugTail™ wiring devices – the P&S PlugTail Split Circuit Receptacle and P&S PlugTail Tamper-Resistant Receptacle.
The PlugTail Split Circuit device is a PlugTail duplex receptacle, pre-wired with a welded second hot lead to meet switched receptacle applications that require a fourth wire to the switch. Available in duplex and Decorator styles, the devices accept standard PlugTail connectors.
The PlugTail Tamper-Resistant Receptacle installs like any PlugTail device, but it’s designed to meet 2008 National Electrical Code® (NEC) child safety requirements. The receptacle’s built-in shutter system prevents children from inserting metal objects into the socket and touching electrically live components, but plugs can be inserted and removed as usual.

At rough-in simply connect the pre-stripped P&S PlugTail connector leads. It’s easier than pigtailing, doesn’t require a wire caddy, and the polybag keeps the connector free of dirt, dust and joint compound until trim-out.
At device installation just click in the connector, and tighten the mounting screws. It takes less than a minute – three times faster than a conventional device installation – and the UL-listed connectors are keyed to ensure consistent, reliable connections every time, regardless of the installer’s skill level. This saves time at the end of the project, when every minute counts.
