Legrand Pairs Local Lighting Control To Samsung Artik™ Cloud For Remote Connectivity, Voice Control, And Third-Party Integration
NEW YORK, NY, November 10, 2016 — Legrand, a global leader in home electrical devices and automation, today announced the integration of Connected Lighting Control systems with the SAMSUNG ARTIK™ Cloud at the company’s North American launch of ELIOT program.
Legrand’s wide variety of RF lighting devices including the LC7001 whole house lighting controller, Tru-Universal dimmers, switches, scene controllers and plug-in devices will communicate with the SAMSUNG ARTIK™ Cloud ecosystem. This new functionality, developed using Samsung ARTIK™ Cloud, includes remote connectivity, voice control with Amazon Alexa, integration to third-party cloud services such as IFTTT, and compatibility with iOS and Android phones, tablets, and wearables such as Samsung Gear and the Apple Watch.
The new functionality will be backward compatible with existing Legrand RF Lighting Control installations and available to users at no cost by December 2016.
“Partnership and interoperability are central tenets of Legrand’s ELIOT program to advance IoT in the built environment,” said John Selldorff, Chief Executive Officer of Legrand North and Central America. “We are very pleased that Samsung is participating in the launch of ELIOT and believe the coupling of Legrand RF Lighting Control with SAMSUNG ARTIK™ Cloud provides excellent functionality and strong value to the professional communities we work with to end-users in homes and businesses.”
The SAMSUNG ARTIK™ Cloud is part of the SAMSUNG ARTIK™ Smart IoT platform that unifies hardware, software, cloud, security and partner ecosystems in a single offering so that enterprises can reduce the time, cost and risk typically associated with the delivery of complex IoT solutions.
“As a leader in providing an end-to-end IoT platform, we are thrilled to collaborate with Legrand to deliver more compelling and integrated experiences,” said James Stansberry, Senior Vice President and U.S. Head of the ARTIK™ group, Samsung Strategy & Innovation Center. “As more IoT devices are developed and brought to market, interoperability is key for companies like Legrand to create new services. Together, we are providing the connectivity, interoperability and security to participate in growing IoT ecosystems.”
Highly intuitive and scalable, RF Lighting Control can be deployed in a single room and is easily expanded to serve as a whole house lighting control solution. As a global leader in inspired design, Legrand’s RF Lighting Control is currently available in two stylish and highly functional design collections, radiant® and adorne®.
