New Integrated Keystone Connector from On-Q/Legrand

Harrisburg, PA, October 23, 2008 - On-Q/Legrand, the leader in home systems, announced today the introduction of a new line of high performance keystone RJ45 jacks. Named "Snap & Go" for their uniquely efficient termination methodology, the new inserts are available in Cat 5e and Cat 6 versions. They offer quick, reliable termination by using a wire carrier as a means to dress and cut the cables prior to termination, allowing installers to easily terminate the connector without using a punchdown tool.

Snap & Go uses an innovative wiring carrier, enabling the installer to simply insert the wires, trim the excess, and snap the carrier into the connector body using the wire cap. With this straightforward, terminate-and-go construction, installers can quickly and reliably terminate the jack at eye level without the aid of a palm tool or a flat surface.

The Snap & Go wire carrier design may be familiar to installers who used the now discontinued UStec X-Jack insert. Although the X-Jack was particularly popular in commercial installations, Snap & Go is effective in both residential and commercial applications, and will provide installers an alternative to their standard termination method.

"By combining exceptional design with advanced wiring methodology, we've developed a product that delivers a highly repeatable termination while increasing performance and cutting installation time," said Bill Bruggemeier, connectivity product manager for On-Q/Legrand. "We're excited to be the first to deliver these advanced capabilities in a true keystone form factor to residential customers."

In order to help customers learn how to terminate using Snap & Go, On-Q has created an online video tutorial, available at www.onqlegrand.com/sng. Snap & Go has been shown to increase termination times by as much as 20 percent (compared with traditional punchdown methods) for installers who are comfortable with the new termination method. The wiring carrier does not split pairs and maintains a tight twist, improving the connector's performance and reliability.

More details on Snap & Go can be found online at http://www.onqlegrand.com/sng. The inserts are available now in Category 5e and Category 6 versions, each exceeding the TIA-568A standards.
