INDIANAPOLIS, IN, September 6, 2011 – Legrand, the leader in home technologies and solutions, announced today that its new airQast Wi-Fi Speaker System will debut at the 2011 CEDIA Expo. Designed to deliver high-quality, wireless streaming audio to the retail market, the award-winning airQast features at its core a new stylish, modern, high-efficiency speaker that not only fits into virtually any décor, but represents a significant performance improvement over currently available consumer-based multi-room audio systems.

The airQast Wi-Fi Speaker System is a truly unique audio experience. Legrand's airQast technology allows users to select and play music, adjust volume levels, create playlists, and enjoy streaming radio services through the speaker system from nearly any smartphone or tablet device. Users simply download the free airQast Controller app from the iTunes App Store or Android Marketplace, connect to the local wireless network, and within minutes begin to enjoy crystal clear music from anywhere inside or outside the home. For use independent of a wireless network, the airQast system also features an auxiliary input that accepts any digital music source.

"With airQast and airQast Main Source, we have developed an incredibly robust architecture that serves two distinct markets," said Dave Hanchette, vice president of marketing for the Home Systems Division of Legrand, North America. "Consumers will now have a stylish, easy-to-configure wireless multi-room audio system for their music libraries and favorite streaming sources that delivers superior sound quality at a competitive price. And integrators will have access to that same ease of use and retrofit installation, but with even greater flexibility thanks to Main Source's simple integration with our four-, six-, and eight-zone lyriQ Multi-Room Audio System."

The system, which will be on display at Legrand's booth on the CEDIA show floor (#2315) will deliver 40 watts (RMS) per channel of crystal-clear, ultra-low-distortion audio from either a conventional analog source, or up to six digital sources, including iTunes, as well as popular internet radio and online music services such as Sirius XM, Pandora, Last.fm, and YouTube, all from an incredibly intuitive plug-and-play wireless system that's perfect for retrofit solutions. And owing to the flexibility of the free airQast Server Software, new streaming audio services will be easily integrated with the airQast system by way of simple application updates.

With airQast, users will also have the ability to create as many as three groups for sharing streaming audio sources throughout the home via Legrand's free downloadable smartphone control app.

airQast Main Source

Also making its debut at this year's CEDIA Expo is airQast Main Source, a wholly separate application built upon the same technologies developed for the consumer airQast system, but configured specifically for the custom integration market.

Main Source, which will also be available in December via certified Legrand dealers and distributors, offers professional installers the same flexibility, mobile control, and ease of setup as airQast, and all of the same integrated access to stored music libraries and streaming internet services, but with additional value in terms of system implementation and expandability.

In lieu of the consumer product's wireless speakers, Main Source consists of a single Wi-Fi module designed to feed Legrand's more advanced lyriQ Multi-Room Audio Systems, providing end users with more control options, including Legrand's renowned lyriQ High Performance Keypads or 7-inch LCD Consoles; and music delivery options that run the gamut from the company's Single Stereo Rock Speaker for outdoor music systems to evoQ 7000 Series in-wall, on-wall, and standalone speakers for more traditional multi-room audio applications.

The airQast Wi-Fi speaker system and Main Source will be available in December. SRP is to be determined.
