Legrand | Ortronics Introduces Clarity SNAP (TM) Port Replication

New London, CT, July 16, 2010 – Legrand | Ortronics, a global leader in high performance network infrastructure solutions, introduces port replication capabilities to its Clarity SNAP factory-terminated product line. Clarity SNAP Port Replication (PR) combines the enhanced performance of Clarity® connectivity with a modular, factory-terminated design, offering a labor saving way for introducing a patch panel to act as the administrative cross connect for servers and switches.

Repeated use of modular jacks in servers and switches as an administrative connection to horizontal cabling can cause damage to the jack port. To mitigate this risk to active equipment, a separate patch panel can be introduced between the server/switch and the horizontal panel. Clarity SNAP Port Replication cable assemblies use RJ45 terminations on the server/switch side and SNAP cable terminations on the SNAP patch panel side to provide a quick and easy way to install patch panel as the administrative cross connect. This creates a replicated port, providing a low cost administration point and leaving the server/switch port untouched. The unique SNAP terminations are reduced in size, enabling easier routing through racks, cabinets, and pathways, while providing a high speed connection.

Clarity SNAP PR cable assemblies are available in single cables or bundles of six cables, and support the superior performance of Clarity 5E and Clarity 6 connectivity. These cable assemblies are supported by all patch panels in the original Clarity SNAP system, including angled or flat six-port module patch panels and individual jack panels. The Clarity SNAP system provides superior channel performance, supports easier and quicker installation and eliminates the need for field testing on the final installed system.

Like all Ortronics® Clarity products, the RJ45 connections of these patch panels and jacks are precision tuned with Clarity patch cords using Ortronics center tuned technology for significantly improved cross talk and return loss performance that is field measurable in the channel. In addition, the Clarity SNAP system is RoHS compliant (meeting all lead-free requirements).
