Cindy Montstream Elected Vice-Chair of Two TIA Subcommittees

Legrand's own Cindy Monstream elected Vice-Chair of TR-42.6 and TR-42.16 Subcommittees

NEW LONDON, Conn., February 12, 2014 – Cindy Montstream, Director of eLearning and Standards for the Data Communications Division of Legrand, has been elected as Vice-Chair of the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.6 Administration subcommittee and TR-42.16 Bonding and Grounding subcommittee.

The TR-42.6 Subcommittee develops and maintains standards for telecommunications administration. These standards include requirements for alphanumeric identification, labeling, color coding and record keeping for the telecommunications infrastructure and guidance for administration of equipment assets.

The TR-42.16 Subcommittee develops and maintains standards for premises telecommunications bonding and grounding systems.  These standards enable and encourage the planning, design, and installation of generic telecommunications bonding and grounding systems within premises with or without prior knowledge of the telecommunications systems that will subsequently be installed.  Design requirements and choices are provided to enable the designer to make informed design decisions.

Montstream has a combined 25 years of teaching technical subjects and working in the telecommunications industry.  She has her BSEE and Masters of Technology Education.  She is a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) and Network Transport Specialist (NTS) and received her CPLP (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) certification from the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) in 2010.

Montstream began participating in TIA and IEEE engineering committees in 1999 and served as an editor on an IEEE standard for 100Mb using short wavelength over fiber.  She returned to TIA in 2009 and participates directly in 8 of the 12 subcommittees.
