Legrand and OptiCool Technologies announce the OptiCool-Ready Mighty Mo GX Cabinet

Seamless integration with the most efficient integrated close-coupled cooling solution

OptiCool Close-Coupled Cooling

NEW LONDON, CT., Sep 30, 2014 – As data centers consume more energy to meet rising demand from businesses and consumers, cooling efficiency is and will remain the greatest focus for data center operators. The prospect of rising energy prices and more-stringent government regulations is also a driving force to reduce and control consumption while the average density of racks continue to rise. In this challenging environment, rear-door heat exchangers, also known as close-coupled cooling designs, such as the refrigerant-based Cool Door® from OptiCool Technologies, offer data center managers with new options and opportunities to address cooling needs.

According to a Gartner research article published in April 2013, “Rear-Door Heat Exchangers Are Game Changers for Cooling the Data Center," “Modern data center cooling best practices will change with the introduction of rear-door heat exchangers. This technology provides data center designers with increased efficiency and lower cooling costs, as well as allows greater equipment densities, which can free up additional space,” wrote John Phelps, former Research VP at Gartner, in this article.

In June 2013, Legrand® and OptiCool Technologies joined forces to provide the most advanced integrated close-coupled cooling solution on the market, reducing in-room cooling energy up to 95%.

Today, the two companies are together launching the only certified OptiCool-Ready cabinet on the market. With this solution, Legrand has combined the built-in airflow efficiencies of the Mighty Mo® GX with the superior refrigerant-based and rack-level cooling solution from OptiCool Technologies. The result is a fully integrated cabinet solution providing maximum energy efficiency, capacity and redundancy, by removing the heat from the computing equipment exhaust air, and offering up to 30 kW of cooling per cabinet.

Customers benefit by knowing the OptiCool Cool Door System is fully compatible with and directly attaches to the Mighty Mo GX Cabinet out-of-the-box. This eliminates costly transition frames, custom engineering time, excess installation time and product ordering complexity.

For the rest of this year, the OptiCool-ready Mighty Mo GX will be on display at both the Legrand and OptiCool booths during the following tradeshows:

  • Critical Facilities, Charlotte, NC, September 29 – October 1, 2014
  • Gartner Symposium/ITxpo, Orlando, FL, October 5-9, 2014
  • Supercomputing Conference (SC14), New Orleans, LA, November 16-21, 2014
  • Gartner Data Center Conference, Las Vegas, NV, December 9-12, 2014
