Legrand/Pass & Seymour Takes Top Honor at 2010 Best of the Best Marketing Awards

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Aug. 19, 2010) – Legrand/Pass & Seymour (P&S), a leading provider of electrical wiring devices and home systems, has been named a top winner in TED Magazine’s 2010 Best of the Best annual marketing awards competition. The program recognizes marketing excellence and creativity within the electrical industry.

P&S took home the overall Best of the Best award for manufacturers, as well as category wins for Product Launch and Direct promotion in the division of manufacturer with over $250 million in sales volume. The winning entry, “Tails, You Win,” was an integrated marketing campaign introducing the P&S PlugTail™ Switches.

P&S PlugTail™ Connectors and Wiring Devices brought unmatched productivity and profitability solutions to everyone involved in the process of wiring and maintaining commercial facilities. The P&S PlugTail Toggle and Decorator Switches elevated these benefits to a higher level – literally. “Tails, You Win” was an extensive mix of print, online, video, direct mail, public relations and social media, all communicating the benefits of the PlugTail Switch.

Standout campaign elements included “The Jobsite,” a humorous and memorable demonstration video inspired by the hit television series, The Office. Additional videos describing the product line history, breadth of offerings, installation, and market applications were housed on a micro site, Another key element, the “Tails, You Win” sample box, included a Switch and tail sample, and a content-rich CD with literature, videos and a cost comparator.

In the first four months of the campaign, over 4,000 unique visitors came to the P&S PlugTail micro site – about 2.5 times the normal site traffic. “The Jobsite” video played nearly 900 times, with over 500 additional views on YouTube. P&S PlugTail sales expanded to new markets, and the company budgeted a sales increase of 30 percent in 2009, due in part to the campaign’s success.
