Legrand/Pass & Seymour Tamper-Resistant Floor Boxes Offer Convenient Connections While Keeping Kids Safe

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Oct. 5, 2010) – Legrand/Pass & Seymour, a leading provider of electrical wiring devices and home systems, announces its line of Tamper-Resistant Floor Boxes. These receptacles meet National Electrical Code® (NEC) tamper-resistant standards while providing convenient access, rugged construction and support for both line-voltage and low-voltage connections.

The Floor Boxes install in wood and concrete with a smooth, nearly flush appearance. Swing-bracket mounting, ideal for tile floors, installs without drilling for mounting screws. The extra-deep design leaves plenty of wiring room, and four knock-out wire entries and two auto-clamp entries allow for wiring flexibility. The heavy-gauge, die-cast cover plate is compatible with a wide range of floor surfaces, including ceramic tile.

“The Tamper-Resistant Floor Boxes make it easy to install connections wherever you need them, with the reassurance that children won’t be able to stick objects into the sockets and suffer injuries,” said Tom Roy, residential product manager at Legrand/Pass & Seymour. “Like all tamper-resistant receptacles, a built-in shutter system blocks things like keys and paperclips, but plugs can be inserted and removed as usual.”

Each Floor Box is scrub water compliant without caulking, supplied with a foam gasket and O-ring-equipped plugs. The foam gasket also seals out dust and dirt. The Boxes include receptacles, multimedia dividers, Cat 5e jacks and F-connectors.
