Mac DeMarco

Monday, April 7, 2014 | by Caitie Tieman

The second full-length album from Canadian multi-instrumentalist Mac DeMarco (not his actual given name, but kinda sounds like the high school bully in an 80s sitcom, right?), Salad Days, reminds me of what a Strokes album on sedatives might sound like. Saturated with a lazy, laidback feel, I get why it’s sometimes called “slacker rock,” but while I might not consider it the perfect soundtrack for productivity, that is not to say it is without a considerable amount of charm. In fact, the entire album carries a sleepy yet infectious quality, like the audio equivalent of an afternoon nap.
