Foster the People

Monday, January 20, 2014 | by Caitie Tieman

Foster the People have released a new song from their upcoming sophomore album, Supermodel, and it is the greatest thing to happen to me all year!!! (I know, the year is only a few weeks old, but don't let that diminish the intensity of my claim…I'm REALLY excited about this. Please accept the use of multiple exclamation points as evidence.) In 2011, the band's debut album, Torches, received a ton of attention and play for the hit, "Pumped Up Kicks," but in truth that entire record was just an auditory joyride, bursting with fun and energy and dynamic hooks. (The band's live show is worthy of a similar description. Mark Foster is an absolute dynamo.) The new single, "Coming of Age," fits along nicely with what I've come to expect from Foster the People – easy-going but danceable, with interesting electronic elements fluttering beneath Mark’s simple vocals. Let the countdown to Supermodel begin!
