Bent Knee

Monday, November 17, 2014 | by Caitie Tieman

I recently stumbled onto a newly released album from the Bostonian art rock collective, Bent Knee.  Possessing an interesting blend of varied musical backgrounds, and yet also a policy of collaborative unity in the songwriting process, the band offers both audible diversity and a prevailing sense of cohesiveness within the tracks of Shiny Eyed Babies. Universally buoyed by the powerful vocals of Courtney Swain, there are moments of the record that are reminiscent of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Florence + The Machine, Beach House, even Regina Spektor, but all together it also feels unfailingly unique and specific and new.
