Tame Impala

Monday, July 27, 2015 | by Caitie Tieman

The third full-length album from Tame Impala, Currents, came out July 17th, and, leading off with the catchy as all get-out “Let It Happen,” this latest release from the Australian act provides dose after delicious dose of electronic, psychedelic rock-pop. Overall, I think the record is a great listen for fans of Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories album or MGMT’s Oracular Spectacular, or perhaps anyone who has ever thought, “I really wish there were more songs that simultaneously remind me of Yeasayer and Michael Jackson.”  For me, stand-out tracks beyond “Let It Happen” include: “Eventually,” “The Less I Know The Better,” and “New Person, Same Old Mistakes.”

(And, as a side musical note, also recently released, Wilco dropped a sneaky-surprise album – brazenly titled Star Wars – for FREE. Do your ears a favor, and investigate that a bit.)
