Legrand's approach to Sustainability

Sustainability by Design

   Better Communities
            We are working together to
            make our communities a
            better place for all.

         We have reduced our energy
         intensity over 32% since 2009
         in U.S. Facilities.

Legrand is committed to integrating sustainability into the way we do business.  We are developing and sharing sustainability tools and resources to help others on their sustainability journey.

Hear Legrand, North America CEO John Selldorff discuss why energy efficiency is critical to a manufacturer’s bottom line and competitiveness. Legrand partnered with the Department of Energy for this video to highlight the company’s success and educate others on the Better Buildings, Better Plants Challenge. This spring, Legrand was recognized by the DOE for achieving a 32% reduction in energy intensity across 14 U.S. sites in just four years - far exceeding the program's benchmarks. Having realized the benefits of energy intensity reductions, Legrand is the first manufacturer to encourage its supply chain partners to participate in a new DOE pilot program.

Tools and Resources for You

At Legrand we believe that it takes a combination of People, Process and Technology to achieve our sustainability goals. To engage our employees and educate others on our approach we are developing a variety of practical tools and resources. We are offering these for you to use to support your organization's efforts.

All About Energy Productivity

Energy productivity has been a priority at Legrand for over 4 years. From 2010 through 2013, we engaged in many different projects across our sites to improve our energy productivity. We ultimately achieved a 32.26% energy intensity reduction as part of our commitment to the Better Buildings, Better Plants Challenge, a U.S. Department of Energy Initiative. You can learn more about these projects on our Energy Efficiency Success story page and our U.S. Department of Energy Profile Page.

Legrand has now set a goal to improve our energy intensity even further; by an additional 25% by 2022 at all of our North American sites.

Last year, Legrand received the 2013 IETC Energy Award from the Industrial Energy & Technology Conference for our energy intensity reduction and our commitment to a transparent journey.
