Questions & Answers

I have a few floor boxes RFBA2R25OG 2-Gang 2-1/2 Rectangular Cover Floor Box. I would like to install one 120V outlet and one CAT- network connector in each box. Could you please tell me the specific parts I need to but for such installation? Thank you

Asked by: Walter P
For each box, you would need (1) RFBADP for a duplex receptacle, (1) RFBA6A for up to four network connectors, (2) RFBAB tunnel blanks, and a Floorport cover if needed. Hello, Part #S38BBTCBK - Is the paint finish durable and scratch resistant?

Asked by: Chris Smaldone
Hi Chris, That part number listed is obsolete. The current number would be FPBTCBK. It is a powder coated finish so it will be more durable than a painted finish. Thanks,

We installed a RFB4 in a concrete finish floor and did not install the adapter ring (FP-CTR) prior to the concrete pour. Is it safe to use the box without the adapter ring?

Asked by: Bill
Hello, The FP-CTR allows the flanged cover to install flush in the concrete floor finish. It may be acceptable to use the box without the bare concrete ring depending on the depth of concrete over the box and the height of the cover. If possible, please send pictures of the installation to technical.support@legrand.us for review. Thank you

Is there a fire rating for the RFB4 above grade boxes? Also can you use the RFB Above grade boxes on Grade level?

Asked by: Brian
Hi Brian, The RFB4 does not carry a fire rating. This box is stamped steel for above grade concrete applications, not rated for on-grade applications. For on grade applications I would suggest the RFBA4R30OG box instead. There is no fire rated version of that series.

Can the cover FPBTBK be installed on bare concrete floor finish or is tile only option?

Asked by: Claude
Hi Claude, The FPBTBK is for tile or hardwood flooring only. For bare concrete you need a bare concrete adapter ring (FP-CTR) installed on the box prior to the concrete pour. That bare concrete adapter must be used to provide a flush installation. The flanged blank cover, FPBTCBK, will then be needed to sit flat in the FP-CTR adapter.

Does the RFB4 have conduit access on the bottom of the box?

Asked by: Mike H
The RFB4 has knockouts for conduit access on the bottom in the two compartments that are intended for power outlets. One compartment has a 1" KO and a 1-1/4" KO. The other has a 3/4" KO and a 1" KO. The side compartments which are for communications do not have bottom KOs.
