Horrible media box!
You cannot add a regular electrical receptacle box from Home Depot. Everything has to be ordered through Legrand. Returning!

It seems like the 9 inch would fit a Samsung frame tv one box but it doesn’t list it as compatible until you look at the 17inch box. Are you sure a “one box” doesn’t fit in the 9inch size?
Yes, it technically fits but you won't be able to plug anything into the USB port on the side of the box since it is a very snug fit. The other answer is also correct that you have to remove the trim ring to get the box in, then put the trim ring on after.

is the surface paintable?
Yes, this product cover and trim frame is paintable. A Plastic primer would be best to use before painting.

I don't like the gap in the door. Is there another door that has a solid front? Perhaps one that opens on a hinge?
We're sorry, there is not. The Gap is designed to allow cabling from inside the box to get out to the display it is mounted behind.

Can this be mounted sideways? If I have a 10" stud bay instead of standard 16" on-center studs. The 9.375" height would fit if I turn the box 90º. Is there any reason mounting it rotated 90º on its side would pose any problems?
The unit can be mounted in either orientation. Mounting it vertically as you suggest will require the unit to be attached using the drywall mounting tabs. There is no means to drive screws into the adjacent studs when turned vertical.

Why are your prices so inflated for what you get? The up charge for your add on bracket etc is in the end hyper inflated Why don't you package up front and charge a reasonable amount so customers feel they are getting value.
Exactly what switch box is intended to be used with this enclosure. I have looked at the Raco 590, but it doesn't appear to be the right fit. I have also searched the web for what is available and con't find one that fits the 2 1/8" x 3 1/2" knockout.
