Can I mount the legrand DT-300 on the wall instead of the ceiling?

Asked by: Scott
Installing a ceiling sensor on a wall could lead to several issues, mainly related to the sensor's functionality and effectiveness: 1. Detection Range: Ceiling sensors are typically designed to detect motion in a specific vertical or downward direction. Installing them on a wall could alter their detection field, potentially limiting their range or causing them to miss certain areas. 2. Field of View: The sensor may no longer have an optimal field of view if it's placed in a non-typical location. Ceiling-mounted sensors are often aimed to cover the largest area possible, whereas wall placement could lead to blind spots or decreased coverage. 3. Sensor Calibration: Many ceiling sensors are factory-calibrated for specific orientations. Mounting them on a wall could interfere with their preset configuration, causing them to behave unpredictably or perform less accurately. 4. Aesthetic/Structural Issues: Depending on the type of sensor, mounting it on a wall could also lead to aesthetic mismatches or structural challenges, such as incorrect wiring or a less sleek appearance. 5. Misuse of Technology: Ceiling sensors, like occupancy sensors, are intended to detect people moving under them. If you mount them on a wall, they may no longer function as intended, resulting in poor performance or false triggers. You might consider looking at a DT-200.

can this dim 0-10 volt drivers or is it just adjusting sensor to preset hi and low trim levels. I need to be able to dim from 100 down to about 5% if needed.

Asked by: mike
Hello, The FS-205 occupancy sensors turn lighting ON and OFF based on occupancy and ambient light levels. It does not have continues dimming

Are these occupancy sensors exterior rated? If not, what occupancy sensors are?

Asked by: Enrica Cotellessa
The Wattstopper CI-305 is not exterior rated. For outdoor applications, I recommend looking into the FSP line of sensors, which are designed for outdoor use.

Are the CI-300 damp or wet location rated? Our project calls out an occupancy sensor in the bathroom and our client is asking if these are damp or wet location rated?

Asked by: Ivan Isahi
Hello Ivan, The CI-300 is not rated for damp/wet location. We do have some devices that are, for example the HB300W or FSP-201B and FSP-301B
