I installed a Softap switch (ASTP1532W4) to turn 3 LED chandeliers on and off. The switch will not turn on the chandeliers. Does this switch work with LED lights? Is it possible I need to change how I wired the switch?

Asked by: Mark B
The adorne electronic switches(Softap, Touch, and Wave) will not function if they are not Grounded. I would make sure that the switch is snapped into the metal mounting frame that is connected to a solid Ground.

I am unable to use the ADTP703TU (master) with ASTP1532(remote) as a 3 way in spite of following all wiring instructions. There is a suggestion that the master should be closest to the circuit board panel box ! Is that true ?

Asked by: RajM
When using the ADTP703TU(3Way dimmer) and ASTP1532(3way switch) together in a 3way application, the switch needs to be installed on the HOT side of the circuit and the dimmer on the LOAD side. These two devices are not masters and remotes.

Will this work for a ceiling fan?

Asked by: Cj15
The switch would work strictly in an on/off function for a ceiling fan. It would provide no speed control.

What’s the difference between the sofTap vs. push switch?  Also, does the sofTap come with illuminator?

Asked by: AnnMN
The Softap is an electronic switch and comes with the Locator Status Light included. The Push switch is mechanical and the Locator Light is not included(but can be added).

I have successfully installed these switched to one way and 3-pole lights but I am having trouble with one switch of mine, a softap to an insinkerator on/off switch with just a hot and neutral wire wired correctly, however it will not shut off. Help!

Asked by: Sara
I had this issue. Turns out the ground is required for the switch shutoff. You need to wire the ground.

Universal Soft tab dimmer 3 way install, installed dimmer and working however, when I try to connect the other soft tap switch following instructions, switch does not work, help please.

Asked by: VicNC
First I would verify that the Softap switch is snapped into the metal mounting frame that has good Ground connection seeing the electronic adorne switch need that to work. Also, When using True Universal Dimmer in a 3 way application, with an electronic switch (Soft Tap, Touch, or Wave), the HOT wire MUST be connected to the electronic switch, and the dimmer MUST be connected to the load. Reversing this wiring (HOT to Dimmer and LOAD to Switch ) will cause the switch to stop functioning. The switch requires 120 VAC to operate. When the voltage to the switch is lowered by using the dimmer, the electronics in the switch stop functioning. This only applies when using an electronic switch. A standard switch (Paddle, Push and Whisper, for example) is not effected.

I’m trying to use the softap on/off switch (not the dimmer) to supply power to a Minka Aire fan. The switch will not turn off the power. I’ve tried the switch w/o the luminaire wired into the switch and it still will not turn off. Any suggestions?

Asked by: Granddude
I would check the Ground connection to the Softap switch and it does need to be snapped into the metal mounting frame to function. The electronic switches in the adorne line have to have to be Grounded to work.

Are these switches Philips Hue compatible? If I use these to turn off the lights, can I still use Alexa/hue app to turn them back on?

Asked by: Smart home newbie
Does it still work if I used the switch to turn off the lights and then try to turn the bulbs on using the Philips Hue APP? My understanding is that the Philips Hue bulbs do not work if the lights are switched off manually by using a wall switch. I'm not sure if this type of switch is an exception as there is no on/off flip.

After completing install the switch does not turn off. Existing wires where installed per instructions. The locator light wires are connected to the 3-WAY terminal and in the same hole as power at the 1-POle terminal. Help please

Asked by: UHredneck
If you're using the switch for an LED, it won't work right, since the leakage current powering the locator light is enough to light the load. Also, the written wiring instructions supplied for the locator light are for installing as a three-way switch. They don't tell you that in the instructions, but the wires for the locator light need to be connected differently if you are using the switch in a one-pole configuration. If you're able to navigate to the page on this website for the illuminator (locator light), you'll see in the question section that they give the wiring requirement for a one-pole installation as hot and one-pole (instead of one-pole and 3-way, as in the written instructions supplied with the product).

Can the softap dimmer be used in a 3way with the ASPD1532W4?

Asked by: Ignite
The Softap SP/3W dimmers can be used with the SP/3W Softap switch. When using an electronic switch (Soft Tap, Touch, or Wave), the HOT wire MUST be connected to the electronic switch, and the dimmer MUST be connected to the load.

Can a single USB port be installed next to a SofTap switch in a 1 gang box with a 1 gang plate?

Asked by: RGM2
No the Softap Switch has a large back body that will take up the whole wall plate frame. You cannot fit the single USB in the same 1 gang configuration as teh Softap switch. You can use the Paddle, Push, or whisper switch in those loactions.

What is the difference between the Touch Switch and the sofTap Switch?

Asked by: Beau
Good Morning and thank you for your interest in our products! The difference is in the way that the switch turns on. With the SofTap, you depress the switch slightly and get a tactile click when doing so. With the Touch, it has a capacitive glass front, so you only need to touch it to turn it on. Hope this helps!

Can these and the SofTap dimmers be installed on either side of a standard toggle 4 way switch? or do all of them have to be softap?

Asked by: Nick
Good Afternoon, Yes, they can be used with a standard 4-way switch in the middle. Please keep in mind that when a SofTap Switch and a SofTap dimmer are used together in a 3 or 4 way setup, the Switch must be kept on the hot side (the box with the hot wire from the panel). Hope this helps!

Will this switch work in a 4 way configuration? If not, which touch switch would?

Asked by: Pasha
Thank you for your question regarding the adorne Softap Switch(Model # ASTP1532W4). The Softap does not have a 4way switch option so you could use two ASTP1532W4 and one 4way Paddle switch(ex ADPD2042W4 or ASPD1542W277). The other option if you want to use all Softap devices would be using one master Softap switch(ASTP155RMW1) and two remote Softap switches(ASTPRRW1). adorne products 1.800.223.4185 opt 3 Mon - Fri: 8am - 8pm EST (excluding holidays)
