Reviews

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor hard to use RJ45 mod plug I find this a very poor plug. I did send an email to technical support and am going to copy its contents below Bought a pack of 50 of these from Menards and attempted to put them on some CAT6 cable. First of all, the directions are very difficult to follow Also the color codes on the packaging are not the same as the normal T568B Orange on 1 2 green wh on 3 Blue on 4 Blue wh 5 Green 6 Brown 7 8 Why the confusion. Also….. I looked at the packaging for the 50 pack (picture included) and it led me to www.legrand.us/onq and the brochure doesn’t even have this plug in it. Why would that be?? Also…. I read the reviews of this plug. All 5 were 1’s I looked and looked for a video to show me the easiest/proper way to use this plug and found none. I found some vids that were close but had a holes instead of slots for the orange and brown (which, to me, would work much better. Can you send me a link to a video showing this plug proper termination technique please? Up to this point I just want to return the bag of 50 now 45 as I messed up several trying to figure this out by trial and error. Mind you that I have built a lot of patch cables but this is much harder than before using this plug. Hoping to hear from you and also hoping that there is an explanation for the above. Above all I hope that this plug is actually easy to install and that you can make/send me a video of how to do it. I will be reviewing and giving it a 1 also but I hope I can be convinced that it is better than that. Thank you Matt S

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst design ever Agreeing with every review on here. This is the worst design I have come across. Is it just 3 pieces so you can charge more? I could say more but in the end, don't buy these. If Legrand reads this and wants to respond, don't tell me to contact customer service. I'm sure they are sick of hearing how horrible this product is.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Simply Unusable - DO NOT BUY THESE The 3-piece design is entirely impractical. The instructions are vague and incomplete. It’s as if the objective of the design team was to make a terrible product. I am returning these to Menards for a refund.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fully Deserves the Poor Reviews I have made my own network patch cables in the past, and planned to do so again upgrading to Cat6 cable. These were the only Cat6 plugs sold at my favourite hardware store, and I didn't look closely at them. But once I opened the bag, I needed help so came here and saw that every review was a one-star. And that's fully deserved. After trying to use them, I agree with every other reviewer. The three-piece design might look good on paper, but the parts are tiny and really hard to get right. I thought maybe regulations had ruined a perfectly simple design (as has happened to gas cans) but was relieved to find that one-piece modular plugs are still available. I was pleased that my hardware store took this product back, but would have just thrown them away if they hadn't as these plugs are not worth the effort to try and use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible I sent someone to Menards to get Cat 6 ends and they brought back these. What a disappointment. You would need tweezers and a magnifying glass to put these together. Not even going to bother trying. Back to the store.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terribly engineered product!!!! The only reason I gave this one star is I couldn’t give it zero. This 3 piece design is awful, if in fact you do get it together and crimped it is very weak. I can’t believe anyone signed off on this to put it into production. Buyers should also beware that the wiring instructions provided are for 568A wiring, not the most common 568B. You could spend hours building these cables just to realize that the wiring is wrong. If you are looking to buy these, don’t, if you have already purchased these take them back, if you opened them and can’t take them back, throw them away. Don’t waste your time and money on these. If this is the best Legrand can do, I will not be purchasing any more of their products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from How did this every make it to production More complicated and inefficient in every single way from the traditional jack. Unbelievable that these got the OK to be produced. Never buy these.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Design, More Complicated Than Old Models Simply does not work as intended. There are two other tiny separate plastic pieces that are required to go inside the modular jack. One is supposed to work as a spacer / wire holder, but simply does not work. It is open ended with nothing to hold the wires. You then put the wire ends into the other tiny plastic piece, while holding the spacers in place, but the wires keep sliding out from one slot to the other. Once I finally got them aligned, the crimp failed, with only 1 terminal being pushed down. Spent way too long trying to get these to work.
