Aisle Containment
Solutions
Why is Containment Important?
Containment solutions prevent hot air from mixing with cold air, achieving over 95% airflow efficiency at normal operating pressures. This ensures that hot air returning to the cooling units is at the highest acceptable temperature, optimizing data center cooling efficiency. In contrast, operating without containment can be compared to using air conditioning with the windows open. Explore Legrand’s hot and cold aisle containment solutions.
Benefits:
- Increase Cooling & Energy Efficiency: Managing hot and cold aisle airflow promotes more efficient operations, lowering PUE and reducing energy costs.
- Reduce Bypass Airflow: Utilize containment to prevent air leakage and create effective air distribution pathways, optimizing cooling efficiency.
- Increased Equipment Lifespan: Proper containment ensures consistent operating temperatures and prevents overheating, reducing unnecessary strain on equipment.
CONTAINMENT SOLUTIONS
For containment applications where cabinet to ceiling height is above 18”, select hot or cold aisle, noting that doors are also required.
Hot aisle containment is used to capture and direct hot exhaust air back to the cooling units. This popular option is ideal for data centers looking to maximize efficiency as it prevents hot and cold air from mixing.
Cold aisle containment encloses the cold aisles to ensure only cold air is supplied to servers. This approach is normally used with in-row cooling and raised floors and is more common in retrofits.
Explore sliding and swinging options for cabinet-to-cabinet and cabinet-to-wall applications. Our easy-to-install doors are offered up to 102” high and available in single and dual openings.
