Questions & Answers
Can these be painted without affecting functionality?
Some of these models sell different colors for the switch button and separately for the plate. The white plastic should be paintable in my opinion, but I would disassemble it first and use a thin coat. It's still try to convince wifey to use one of the available colors. It would be less messy and easier to match to other switches and outliers. You're at your own risk if you decide to paint it.

does the RH703PTUW work on electronic dimmable driver?
Yes, the Radiant universal dimmer is rated to handle both ELV(electronic) and MLV(magnetic) drivers.
Date published: 2022-04-13
do you need a neutral for this tru-universal dimmer?
Yes, the universal dimmer will require a Neutral connection.
Date published: 2024-08-12
Have the RH703PTUW 3-way or single pole. Set to F. Using it as a single. Common from power, single pole to light and green grounding. Turn it on and LED flashes but does not go through power up test, light do not turn on. Incandescent 40watt 120v.
The RH703PTUW dimmer requires a Neutral wire connected to the silver terminal for it to function. If you do not have a Neutral in the electrical box and are controlling an incandescent light load, you could use the RH703PW or RHCL453PW. They do not require a Neutral connection.

I have a legend rhcl453ptcccv6. Just trying to change colors. Got the frame off but can’t get the switch rectangular off. How hard and which way to pull, lift or whatever? Hope you can help me. This is not a 3way.
To remove the paddle switch just pull up from the top or bottom and it will pop off. You can also use a flathead screwdriver and place it under one end of the switch and pry it off that way.

Can either or both RH703PTUTC or RH703PTUW be used in a 90 sq. ft. bathroom to dim (3) individual/single LED Wall Sconces from dweLED lighting where dampness and humidity tend to be? The bathroom has (1) Ventilation fan and (1) window.
Yes, both of these dimmers will work in a normal bathroom application setting that has proper ventilation.

Can the locator led be turned off? I have a RH703PTU dimmer.
The locator LED can not be disabled on the RH703PTU dimmer.
Date published: 2021-06-22
Does turning off the power to the RH703PTU dimmer remove all programming and reset the dimmer to factory settings?
If the AUTO-CAL was not locked out, resetting power to the dimmer will force the dimmer to reset the light level back to the factory default.
NOTE: When the dimmer loses power, when it turns back on it tries to set its minimum output voltage at an optimal level for the light it is dimming. If you want to override this behavior, lock in your Min Level Trim adjustment as follows:
• Once you reach the Min Level Trim desired, hold down the CAL button until the Locator LED stops flashing. This takes approximately 10 seconds. This locks-in your new minimum output voltage setting and prevents the dimmer from overriding your setting after it loses power.

We lost power a week or so ago and now the switches are all offline. Do I need to hard reset them to bring them back or is there an easier way?
The RH703PTUTC dimmer is not a "wi-fi" dimmer so it shouldn't go off-line. I would suggest trying the calibration button found under the wallplate or contacting Technical Support for assistance:

Why does the 3 way wiring diagram show a traveller wire hooked to the terminal labelled single pole as well as to the 3 way terminal. I have hot to common, red to traveller, white to neutral, gnd to gnd on box, light on switch flashing, no power to light?
The universal dimmer requires a separate Neutral connection so it would be wired as follows:
Hot to Common, Travelers to 1pole and 3way, and Neutral to White terminal.

I was sold a radiant RH703PTUW to use with a light fixture that uses a LED Driver. Is this correct? How do I hook up the switch?
As long as the LED driver is NOT 0-10V, this dimmer should work and wiring instruction link is attached.

Installed product when I tested wouldn't work manually. Downloaded app can unhook and rehook and the lights come on at this point the program will dim the lights and bring back bright gut if I turn off with app they won't come back on.
Please contact Technical Support to get this resolved . The RH703PTUTC is not Wi-Fi and does not work with an APP so they will need the correct model number to assist you.

Do I need a companion switch if installed with 3 way , regular switch?
To complete a 3way installation using the RH703PTUW dimmer, it would be used with any standard 3way switch in the other location.

Why is the dimmer controlling the speed of my ceiling fan? When the lights are dimmed, the ceiling fan slows down regardless of what speed it’s on. Is it possible the ceiling fan need to be rewired because I upgraded the switch?
I would suggest contacting Technical Support to go over the dimmer wiring see it is not designed or rated for fan /motor control.

Installed 3 of these (same box) to cntrl LED lights in our bedroom. They work fine, but get noticeably warm, even with the lights off all night. With the wall plate removed, I measured 105 - 110F on the mounting ears . Makes her nervous, any thoughts?
It is normal operation for a dimmer to feel warm to the touch. The allowed temperature from UL is 140 degrees in Fahrenheit for the face of a dimmer.

Every time I turn the light off the LED binks rapidly and when I turn it back on it recalibrates but the dimmer never works. What is going on? I have a red wire at the single pole black on the black screw, white on the neutral and green to the copper.
I would suggest contacting Technical Support directly to troubleshoot your installation

Hello there I just got done installing a tru universal dimmer switch and the led Indactor flash fast and light wont turn on, in need of help
The True Universal dimmer requires a separate Neutral wire to function correctly and will "flash" if it is not connected.

Hooked dimmer to 3 way switch. Previous switch had one red / one black going to brass screws and one black going to black screw with a copper ground. I went black to black, the black/red to brass on the dimmer. Ground to ground. Flashing white led now?
The RH703PTU universal dimmer requires a WHITE Neutral wire to the silver terminal to function correctly.

I just had 4 new led ceiling lights put in I'm looking at the wires theres 2 black and 1 copper. Theres white in the back of the outlet box but they are twisted together. Where do I put the wires???
To install the RH703PTUTC dimmer, you black HOT wire goes to the black terminal, your black LOAD wire goes to 1POLE terminal, and you can create a "jumper from the silver NEUTRAL terminal to the bundle of white wires.

Just purchased HMRWCCV4 dimmer switch at Lowe’s. Employee told me it would work as a stand alone switch for single pole application. Back of this switch has 3 screws... one labeled Remote and the other two labeled Load. Not exactly sure how to install
The HMRWCCV4 is designed to be used with a master dimmer and CAN NOT be used alone.

I have 3 wires from the house (black, white, & bare copper) & 3 wires from a light fixture (black, white, & green). Where do the wires from the house go? Where do the wires from the light fixture go? My Legrand switch has common, neutral & single pole.
Good Evening,
The black from your panel goes to the black screw, the black to the light goes in the 1-pole screw.
Next, you take a jumper wire and you wirenut that and the two whites together. The free end of the jumper will go into the back of the dimmer where it says "neutral."
Hope this helps!

I installed a Radiant Dimmer to control a fixture with LEDs and set the trim pot for max dimming. When I move the slide from bottom to top, max brightness occurs before the top and then the light gets dimmer at the very top.
I would reach out to our Technical Support Team so they can assist with programming the dimmer for the LED's you are controlling.

The instructions show you tying Neutral to Load (Which I assume is the Single Pole labelled terminal) . So really? You tie Neutral to Load at the switch?
I had the same question regarding the diagram myself, so thanks for clearing this up. I was not interpreting the "Load" INSIDE the box in the diagram to be the actual Load (light). It is technically correct but the line showing a connection from the "Load" to Neutral was messing me up, if that one line wasn't there it wouldn't be as confusing. I was a bit thrown by why the switch needs a neutral going to it but when I realized it has a locator LED (which would always be lit), it made sense.

In the US smart dimmers are labelled (Line, Load, Neutral, Ground). This is labelled ( Neutral, Common(!?), Single Pole(??!%?), Ground) Is Common=Line? Is Single Pole=Load?
The RH703PTUTC is not a "Smart" Wi-Fi dimmer but a standard single pole/3way dimmer so the terminals are marked as Common(Load or Hot), Neutral(required), 1pole, and 3way.
Date published: 2020-07-10
Is this dimmer compatible for fixtures requiring a TRIAC style dimmer?
Yes, it is compatible with virtually any dimmable lamp, load, and fixture on typical residential and light commercial wiring (with the exception of 0-10V LED drivers).
Date published: 2020-01-07
Does this dimmer switch itself come in a nickel finish so I can match the rest of the switches thruout my home or do I have to deal with mismatch finishes?
You can use the interchangeable facekit(RHKITNI) to make this dimmer Nickel to match your other devices.
