Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dims beautifully, no flicker Bought “regular” LeGrande paddle dimmers and they dim great and look beautiful, but with some of our LED lights there was a flicker. Switched to the soft tap true universal and they dim to almost off and no flicker at any light level. Love how they dim to off for an elegant effect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dim lighting I am so happy with the soft top dimmer switch that I had got last week the dimmer is very easy to use. There was no need for a professional installation as the instructions were very clear it actually worked on the first try, Something I’m not that familiar with After using it I plan on going buying more for my downstairs game room and are outside party room. It’s certainly can set the mood for whatever occasion with a push of a button

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GORGEOUS These are beautiful and functional. I am doing a whole home remodel and I have put Legrand switches and dimmers in every room. They are so clean and stylish, and they bring a really nice polished touch to every space. Fan for life!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These switches are awesome! I replaced all the switches and outlets in my house to legrand adorne and I looks fresh and modern! What a difference!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Love the Look- still needs work on the value Love the look and design of the switches. Don’t like how the dimmer has a dim (no pun intended) locator light vs. the regular switch- which isn’t visually appealing and super irritating considering the price. Looks really bad on a 2+ gang switch when they are right next to each other. Also- my tru universal won’t turn on my LED pendants unless it starts on the highest power vs. the lower end. So much for versatility. Once again as many reviewers expressed- at this price point- we demand perfection and flawless execution as there’s nothing out there more expensive. GET IT RIGHT!

Questions & Answers

I have an older home built in 1978 and the single light I wish to use this dimmer with has hot, neutral and ground wires only. The light is LED and specified ELV only which I believe is supported by this model. I have not been able to successfully wire it

Asked by: Will
I posted this question. I found the neutral and I connected  according to specifications, and I could never get it to function at all even after trying the tweaks listed on the installation pdf. I gave up and went to Lutron which worked fine right out of the box. What drew me to this line was the pop out three plug outlets and I have no problem with any of these. Since the dimmer is already out of the box, I’m sure my vendor won’t take it back so I will leave it for the trustees of my trust to throw out after I’m gone. Kind of left me with a bad test in my mouth for their products, but I’m done with my renovation and in six months morning remember this

Is it normal to feel warm when dimmer is off? I have one ADTP703TUW4 alone and it is cool. But in another electric box there are two ADTP703TUW4 side by side, they are warm to touch no matter on or off. My room temp is 72F. Those warm dimmers are 107F.

Asked by: Ryan
The electronic dimmers will generate more heat when ganged together in the same box. It is normal for them to feel warm, even when off because of the built-in electronics. The allowed maximum temperature by UL is 140F. adorne products 1.844.957.3783 opt 1, opt 2 Mon - Fri: 8am - 6pm EST (excluding holidays) Email Us - tech.support@legrand.us

You cannot do so and maintain code compliance. A receptacle should not be run via a dimmer.

What is the boot up procedure that the switch goes through when first powered up? I hear several clicks and dimmer lights cycle up/dn. Does it power up the lights a time or two or three before it settles down?

Asked by: Gabe
The universal dimmer will self-calibrates to your lights when power is restored, automatically setting the appropriate minimum voltage to eliminate flicker and poor performance. The dimmers will perform this sequence after power is applied (installation, power return after a blackout, circuit breaker resets) and takes about 30-40 seconds. After the dimmer performs the above initialization, it will perform as specified in the previous sections of this document.

I need to for this dimmer to work in a 3 way setting. Which adorne switch is compatible and does the 2nd switch need to run off the same neutral?

Asked by: Joe
This dimmer will work with any 3way switch. If you use one of the adorne electronic switches(Softap, Touch or Wave), the switch would need to be on the HOT side of your 3way and the dimmer would go on the LOAD side. The switch does not require a Neutral.

I just installed this sofTap dimmer switch and it turns on and off and dims as it should. It does, however, 'click' when I turn the switch on and off. What is causing this, please? Should I be concerned? Thank you.

The "click" is the opening and closing of the internal contacts, which is normal and you should not be concerned.

Installed this with WAC InvisiLED Pro2 24v (LED-TX24) tape light/ WAC 96 Watt Dimmable Power Supply (EN-24100-RBT2-T). Even after setting to low level trim, the lights flash when dimmed. Is there a minimum load for these dimmers? Other suggestions?

The universal dimmer has a 6W minimum load required and for WAC lighting(ELV), the dimmer should be put into Reverse phase.(see User Adjustments section on attached instruction link) https://legrand.webdamdb.com/directdownload.php?ti=55646800&tok=GcNt2dYl9SpC4XAf0iSV9gRR

Im replacing a lutron 3way with a legrand ADTP703TUG4. The wall has 4 wires. (black, white, red and bare). The switch has sockets for hot, neutral, 3 way and pole? what goes where? the diagram doesnt help

Asked by: Skim
Hello, When installing this Legrand dimmer in a 3-way it has to be installed on the load side and the switch needs to be on the line side. We are not able to identify the wires in the wall just what wires need to be connected on the back of this dimmer. Ground wire goes to green, Neutral wire goes to white, Hot goes to black, 3-way and 1 pole need to be matched up between the dimmer and switch. I just completed a complete remodel of my Kitchen. I used all Adorne Legrand devices. I am controling my LED undercounter lighting with a soft tap universal dimmer. My Kicher undercounter lighting is buzzing. did not buzz with conv. dimmer

Asked by: Buddy
The Softap dimmer may need to be adjusted for the under cabinet lights you are controlling. If they are ELV(electronic low voltage), you need to put the dimmer into reverse phase. These steps are included with the dimmer instructions: SP/3Way true universal dimmer phase settings….FORWARD or REVERSE: You need to be in the minimum trim level adjustments to change the dimmer phase. To enter Min Level Trim: Hold Rocker button down for approximately 10s after minimum brightness reached. Bargraph LEDs will turn on to indicate cal mode activated. Releasing button within 5 seconds activates automated Min Level Trim feature as described in Initial Turn-on section below. Continuing to hold button for approximately 5 more seconds causes the +/- LEDs to flash, and initiates manual calibration. (basically hold for approx 15 secs until the +/- start flashing) Forward or Reverse Phase Selection Forward Phase is the default as shipped from factory. During manual Min Level Trim, holding On/Off button for approximately 10s toggles between Forward and Reverse Phase. The LED flash rate during calibration is approximately 1Hz for Reverse Phase, approximately 3Hz for Forward Phase. FORWARD phase – FAST blink REVERSE phase – SLOW blink

Does this dimmer REALLY work with standard 110 VAC 6W LED bulbs? I have several of your LED dimmers that will only reduce the brightness of the LED bulbs to about 75% of full brightness - not very much.

Asked by: davchr
The universal dimmer is designed to dim to approximately 3% of your light load but also depends on the low end restrictions of the LED bulb. Some only dim to 10%.

Hi - I'm using this dimmer (ADTP703TUW4) with a regular 3-way softap switch (no dimmer). Can these be used in either the master or remote locations? I can get mine to work at first but then the softtap switch stops working after 4-5 pushes.

Asked by: John
When using True Universal Dimmer in a 3 way application, with an electronic switch (Soft Tap, Touch, or Wave), the HOT wire MUST be connected to the electronic switch, and the dimmer MUST be connected to the load. Reversing this wiring (HOT to Dimmer and LOAD to Switch ) will cause the switch to stop functioning. The switch requires 120 VAC to operate. When the voltage to the switch is lowered by using the dimmer, the electronics in the switch stop functioning. This only applies when using an electronic switch. A standard switch (Paddle, Push and Whisper, for example) is not effected.

I have a 560 watt LED load, will this dimmer work with this load? I know a lot of dimmers I have looked at have a lower led threshold than incandescent and didn't know if the 700watt rating was across the board or incandescent only.

Asked by: Darron
The maximum wattage rating depends on what type of lights(LED's) you are controlling. Max. load rating: • Incandescent: 700W • MLV: 500VA • ELV: 700W • EFL: 5.5A • CFL and LED: 450W(screw in bulbs)

The Softap SP/3W dimmer can be used with any 3way switch but seeing the Wave switch is electronic, the following applies: When using True Universal Dimmer in a 3 way application, with an electronic switch (Soft Tap, Touch, or Wave), the HOT wire MUST be connected to the electronic switch, and the dimmer MUST be connected to the load. Reversing this wiring (HOT to Dimmer and LOAD to Switch ) will cause the switch to stop functioning. The switch requires 120 VAC to operate.
