Smart Lighting With Wi-Fi (2nd Gen), Matter-Enabled FAQ

The questions and answers below are for the following Matter-enabled products:
WWMRL10WH, WWMRL51WH, WWMP30, WWMP31, WWMRR15WH

For questions related to Smart Lighting with Wi-Fi (1st Gen) that utilizes the Smart Lights app, refer to the 1st Gen FAQ page.

Q: How do I reset the device to factory settings?
A: For the plug-in, hold down the button the side of the device for 10-15 seconds. Once the light starts blinking red and green on the front of the device, let go of the button. If the device was connected to a network and you are resetting it, the light may turn red and then solid green. You must wait until it quickly blinks red and green in sequence, which is usually 10-15 seconds.
For switches, outlets and dimmers, the reset switch is located on the front face of the device. Remove the wall plate from your device and depress and hold the reset button until the indicator light is flashing on the device.

Q: My device is no longer connected or reachable by my smart home platform, what can I do?
A: Before performing a factory reset, cycle the power to your device. For a plug-in, this can be done simply by unplugging it and plugging it back into the wall. For an in-wall device like a switch or dimmer, power must be switched off and then on at the circuit breaker corresponding to where that device is located. After power has been cycled, please wait a few minutes for the device to come back online. After a few minutes, try again. If still not connected, a factory reset should be performed and the device will need to be set back up in your respective smart home application(s).

Q: How do I add my device to multiple platforms?
A:
The process depends on which platform you first set your device up with. In general, each smart home platform allows you to go into a device’s settings and generate a new Matter QR code or numeric code to be used in other apps. The original QR code on the device is only used for the initial setup with the first smart home platform and cannot be re-used on another platform unless the device undergoes a full factory reset.

Q: Does this work with the Legrand Smart Lights App?
A:
These devices are not compatible with the Smart Lights App that the previous generation of devices were used with. The Matter-enabled devices are intended to be used and set up in the home platform application of choice that supports Matter like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, Samsung SmartThings, etc.

Q: Does this work without a home assistant platform?
A:
Matter-enabled devices must be set up and configured with a smart home platform that is Matter-compatible. Most current generation hubs and assistants from the major manufacturers (Google, Amazon, Apple, Samsung) are compatible. For more information on available platforms, please visit https://www.legrand.us/matter

Q: Do I need a neutral wire for my switch or dimmer?
A:
Yes, the Matter-enabled devices require a neutral wire in your electrical box where you will be installing a switch or a dimmer. This allows the device to remain connected to your network even when the switch is off.

Q: What types of Wi-Fi networks are supported?
A:
For broad compatibility, the Matter-enabled devices support 2.4 GHz networks. Most current routers broadcast two different networks, a 2.4 GHz and a 5 GHz network. Ensure your smartphone is connected to the 2.4 GHz network when setting up your devices. A 2.4 GHz network also provides better range and coverage and is great for low bandwidth devices such as smart switches, plugs and dimmers.

Q. How do I add the Matter-enabled device to a second platform after I’ve set it up in Apple Home?
A:
Once setup in Apple Home, you must locate the device in your Apple Home app and tap into it. Once you see the option to turn the device on and off, tap on the settings icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. On the next screen, scroll down and select “Turn on Pairing Mode”. A new Matter setup code should appear on your screen that can be used in other platforms to associate your device.
