Installation & Site Preparation

What type of concrete base is required for an Outdoor Power Pedestal installation?

The Outdoor Power Pedestal is designed to fit standard concrete tube diameters of 8”, 10” or 12”. The included concrete studs are 2 ¼" long and require a minimum of 2” of concrete for secure mounting.

How deep should the concrete footing be?

The required footing depth depends on environmental and site conditions. For standalone installations, the concrete should extend below the local frost line to help prevent movement caused by freezing and thawing. In warmer climates the footing depth should still provide enough stability to prevent pedestal movement. Soil conditions, surrounding structures and overall application requirements can all impact footing depth. Legrand recommends consulting a civil engineer when site conditions are uncertain.

What should I consider when installing a pedestal on a sidewalk or patio?

When the pedestal is installed as part of a larger concrete structure, such as a sidewalk or patio, proper base preparation and expansion planning are important to help prevent cracking or movement within the concrete surface.

Are there burial depth requirements?

Yes. All conduit must be buried according to applicable local and national electrical codes.

Can I install the anchor kit before the pedestal arrives?

Yes. The anchor kit can be ordered separately using part number XPPANCHORKIT, allowing site preparation work to begin before the pedestal arrives on-site. Please note that the Outdoor Power Pedestal already includes an anchor kit in the supplied accessory pack.

Can the Outdoor Power Pedestal be surface-mounted?

Yes. The Outdoor Power Pedestal typically mounts to a concrete base or pad for stability and durability in outdoor environments. Direct bury options are available for some configurations. Installation methods should follow Legrand installation instructions and local code requirements.
