Questions & Answers

IS th RC7 approved for Hospital use?

Asked by: JEFF
Hello. The RC7 is not specifically rated for hospital use; the proprietary duplex receptacle included in this poke-thru is not a hospital-grade receptacle. Thanks!

Is the keystone adapter (number on the part is "1 001 436") available for order separately, with a Cat 5e and/or Cat 6 jack? If so, please provide ordering information.

Asked by: rr2squared
Hi, 1001436-BK would be the keystone adapter. You would need to provide the jacks to go into the adapter. Thanks,

Can the RC7ATCBK be used in a wood subfloor application or is there a better floor box option for this application that will match the RC7ATCBK cover?

Asked by: Mark
Hello Mark, Poke-thrus, including the RC7ATCBK are for use in concrete only. You would need a floor box for wood floors. We don't offer the RC7 style cover on a floor box. If you need power only, we recommend the 861QTCAL floor box. Please visit the link below to view the cutsheet: https://legrand.webdamdb.com/directdownload.php?ti=55653883&tok=Le3DIbBy8R97sK8C0BsKxQRR If you need assistance with other floor box options, you can also call Wiremold Technical Support at 844-957-3783 Option 2 for Wiremold and Option 2 again for Technical Support. Thank you -

II need to specify a poke thru device that would have a duplex outlet and USB ports A & C? Can the RC7 be able to accommodate these devices?

Asked by: Raul
Hello Anonymous, The RC7 poke thru comes with (1) 20A proprietary duplex and (2) Cat6 jacks. This poke thru does not have the capacity required for USB charging devices. A decora style device with USB A & C ports can be installed in the Evolution 4" poke thru. Poke thru part# is 4ATCXX (XX = cover color). In addition, a 44DEC device plate is required and can accept the decora USB A & C charging device (sold by others such as Pass & Seymour) If you need any additional information, please feel free to reach out to us directly at 1-844-957-3783, option 2 for Wiremold, followed by option 2 for technical support. You can also email us directly at technical.support@legrand.us. Thank you.

Is the 4PPS 4" Pre Pour Poke Thru Sleeve compatible with the RC7?

Asked by: Claud
Hello Claud, The RC7 poke thru requires a 3" hole through the concrete. In this case the 4PPS is a 4" pre-pour sleeve that would not work with the RC7 because the hole size would be too large and the poke thru could not be properly secured. Unfortunately we do not offer a 3" poke thru pre-pour sleeve option. My apologies for the inconvenience. Take care and thank you for your question.

Do the Flush Style Poke-Thru Devices provide a "T" rating? The amount of time that a firestop system prevents the tempature on the non-fire side from rising 325 F above ambient when tested in accordance with ASTM E 814 or UL 1479

Asked by: Inspector Cullum
Hello Inspector Cullum, In addition to the previous comment here is a little more information as it pertains to our Poke thru assemblies. UL 1479 – the Standard for Fire Tests of Penetration Firestops, specifies the requirements for penetration firestops of various materials and construction that are intended for use in openings in fire resistive wall, floor or floor-ceiling assemblies, and membrane type penetration firestops of various materials and construction that are intended for use in openings in fire resistive wall assemblies. Products listed to UL 1479 are classified with "F", "T" and "L" ratings. The requirements of UL 1479 do not apply to outlet boxes and fittings for use in and evaluated for fire resistance as part of a fire-resistance-rated floor, floor-ceiling or wall assembly. UL263 – the Standard for Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials, specifies the requirements for outlet boxes and fittings for use in and evaluated for fire resistance as part of a fire-resistance-rated floor, floor-ceiling or wall assembly. Although Poke Through devices penetrate the floor, they are not technically "Penetrations". A “Penetration" is typically something like a pipe or a bundle of wires that enters the floor on one side and "penetrates" to continue on the other side. The cables supplying power to Legrand Wiremold Poke Through devices do not "continue on the other side", therefore UL does not treat them as a “Penetration". Outlet Boxes and Fittings Certified for Fire Resistance under UL 263 are classified with hourly ratings, similar to the floor construction. The Legrand Wiremold 2 hour UL Fire Classified Poke Through was tested to UL263 and contained the fire during the fire test for a minimum of 2 hours. It also limited the temperature rise to 325 degrees F over that same 2 hour time period. Therefore, based on the above, the Legrand Wiremold 2 hour UL Fire Classified Poke Through meets the 2 hour "F" and 2 hour "T" requirements of UL1479, even though it is not officially rated with "F" and "T" ratings by UL. Legrand is aware that local inspection authorities are seeking "L" ratings for Poke-Thru devices based on Paragraph 714.5.4 of the international Building Code, which states: 714.5.4 Penetrations in smoke barriers. Penetrations in smoke barriers shall be protected by an approved through-penetration firestop system installed and tested in accordance with the requirements of UL1479 for air leakage. The L rating of the system measured at 0.30 inch (7.47 Pa) of water in both the ambient temperature and elevated temperature tests, shall not exceed: 1. 5.0 cfm per square foot (0.025 m3/ s · m2) of penetration opening for each through-penetration firestop system. 2. A total cumulative leakage of 50 cfm (0.024 m3/s) for any 100 square feet (9.3 m2) of wall area, or floor area. All poke-thru devices, including those from Legrand Wiremold, are Fire Classified to UL263, the Standard for Fire Tests of Building Construction and Materials. Currently, UL263 does not include air leakage tests and no L rating is assigned to poke-thru devices by UL or other certifying bodies. It is for this reason that we have been unable to provide the local inspectors with the L ratings they have been requesting for these products. Should you require any additional information, or would like the listing report for these products please feel free to contact tech support directly at 1-844-957-3783, option 2, followed again by option 2. Or you can email us at technical.support@legrand.us.
