By detecting arc faults and ground faults and deenergizing the circuit, the radiant® Tamper-Resistant Dual Function Duplex Self-Test AFCI/GFCI receptacle is designed to protect against electrical fires and follow the National Electrical Code (NEC). This receptacle features an indicator light and accessible test and reset buttons that make trips easier to identify and resolve compared to AFCI breaker alternatives. Via a feed-thru wiring configuration, all outlets installed downstream are also protected. As a part of the radiant® Collection, it also features sleek, clean lines for a sophisticated look. Made for use with screwless Wall Plates from the Collection, sold separately.

Features

  • Protects against fire caused by arc-fault and ground fault occurrences. Unlike breaker alternatives, AFCI/GFCI outlets make it easier to fix trips with a convenient reset button on the outlet.
  • Protects children with a patented tamper-resistant shutter system that prevents improper insertion of foreign objects, complete with "invisi-shutters" for an invisible effect.
  • Test and rest buttons located on face of device at point of use, making it easier to fix trips directly on the device.
  • SafeLock® Protection feature: if critical components are damaged and protection is lost, power to the receptacle is disconnected
  • Conducts an industry-leading automatic self-test every 3 seconds. If the device ever fails, the indicator light flashes to signal it should be replaced
  • Extends GFCI protection to "downstream" outlets when used with feed-thru wiring configuration. Note: Will cut power to face and downstream outlets if wired incorrectly
  • Auto-ground clip assures a positive ground to a metal box
  • Compliant with NEC AFCI & GFCI requirements
  • Easier installation than breakers; fits any wall box; no need to match brand of breaker box
  • Accepts #14–#10AWG solid & stranded wires, Copper-clad aluminum, and copper wire

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good This is the only AFCI/GFCI receptacle on the market that I've found that does not require installation in the first outlet of the branch circuit (all others print this requirement in the instructions), which can be impractical for a simple receptacle replacement when the first outlet is not readily accessible. A few nuisance trips on the AFCI side, unfortunately, but not super frequent. Would prefer if the orientation of the text would be upright when receptacle is horizontally mounted with the neutral side of the receptacle is facing up, instead of the hot side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Website has far more choices than big box stores I couldn’t find the 20amp AFCI/GFCI receptacles I needed at any of the big box stores. Not only did I get the receptacles I needed fast, but I actually got them for a better price then anywhere else. Fast shipping and great product. Easy to install and I really like the screwless faceplates that go on the receptacles & switches.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great idea but too much blue in the light Comfortable with the LeGrand brand from my days of living in France, I installed this GFCI about six months ago> The idea of an integrated night light was attractive, so you don't have to use one of the outlets just to run the night light. However, the design choice of color temperature of the LED is way too blue. Too much blue at night disrupts circadian rhythms, which is exactly what you *don't* want in a night light. (See AMA paper from 2016 at https://www.darksky.org/wp-content/uploads/bsk-pdf-manager/AMA_Report_2016_60.pdf). Also, the light source is not shielded, so you are exposed to glare in addition. To partially remedy the situation, I cover the light source with a yellow Post-It flag. For these night lights, I would recommend to LeGrand to upgrade to a 2200-2400K color temperature LED.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from don't recommend, wouldn't replace without unit. So awhile back I had this company replace the 3 AFCI/GFCI receptacles that stopped working. They did and it was fine. Well i had ordered a large order awhile back I can't remember now of 40 or so of them recepticles and 11 of them had buttons completely missing with springs and buttons all over the inside of the box. And the rest of them had cracks and knocks all over the receptacles just looked like poor condition. Now I don't know if it was shipping that caused the damage or the company but I can't get them to replace them without me sending them back to them to inspect. For craps sake like replacing 11 of your outlets for a LIFELONG CUSTOMER WILL REALLY FINANCIALLY DRAIN YOUR HUGE COMPANY. needless to say I don't recommend their customers service. Or their name..... They refuse to just make the customer happy. They messed up because I know many many big names in electrical and lighting conventions and expos that I go to... I always advertised for them and supported this company. No more.!!!

Questions & Answers

Concerning radiant® 15A Tamper-Resistant Dual-Function AFCI/GFCI Outlet, the red light came on with continuous beeping. Do I need to replace the outlet or is it simply the matter of pressing on the reset button?

Asked by: Hiro
Hello, the light being on solid would typically indicate that the device was tripped. Resetting it should restore normal function. I hope this helps

With one of these devices, how many feed thru outlets can you connect downstream? Other than amperage, is there any other limitation?

Asked by: JackJ
The best answer is to perform the calculations for the specific application. By code for the 20 Amp unit, it is limited to a maximum of 12 downstream duplex receptacles (outlets)/devices. General applications typically do not exceed 3 downstream receptacles/devices.

My electrician just installed 2 of these outlets in my kitchen.  Now whenever we turn on our blender (Vita mix, 120v, 60 Hz, 11.5 amps, 2002 model year) it presents an Arc fault.  What's up?  I want to use that blender on my kitchen circuit like I used to

Asked by: Gman
I would check to see if you use another appliance into the new outlet, do you get the same results and contact us for further assistance: Radiant products 1.800.223-4162 opt 3 Mon - Fri: 8am - 8pm EST (excluding holidays) Email Us - tech.support@legrand.us

I have a customer with two of these in the kitchen. One I installed a couple of years ago and one that was installed this year. Both outlets work fine and test and reset as expected. But twice they have both tripped with nothing plugged in.

Asked by: Eddie
These are safety devices that are designed to trip when a Ground fault or an Arc Fault occured. There are many factors that could take place to make one of these devices to trip. worn insulation, conductive dusts, water etc. Chances are what ever tripped the unit was a temperary occasion. If the Fault was still there the unit would not reset when You press the reset button

When will the 20 Amp, or 15 Amp AFCI/GFCI be available in the Nickle finish? I have high demand for this product in my local area, but most want the nickle finish to compliment the areas of installation.
