Box designed so mounting strap of the device, with plaster ears removed, fits flush, allowing use of standard depth wall plate without unsightly gap between plate and wall surface.
Swing out wing brackets permit installation of box in wall with 1 1/4 inch thick wallboard down to 1/8 inch thick paneling.
New longer swing brackets have greater reach to clamp onto oversize cutouts.
Made of high impact thermoplastic.
Combination slotted/Phillips head swing bracket screws.
Include exclusive Auto/Clamp feature.
Suitable for in-wall use.

Can you send a detailed dimensioned drawing? Concerned with how far the wings spread fully opened. Replacing a fixture that was installed with no box. Feed is attached to stud; center line of mounting space is only 3/4" off the stud.

What are the dimensions of this box? The drawing provided above is too small to read. If the box is actually 3-3/4" wide and the installation instructions say to cut a 3-3/4" round hole in the ceiling then there would be no material to hold it in place.

Thank you for your inquiry. Please review the following information: Dimensions - Diameter 3 3/4 | Depth 2 11/16 Old Work Ceiling Box (Part #: C118WAC) 1. Cut a 3-3/4" round hole in the ceiling using either a hole saw or a hand saw (you may also place the back of the box against the ceiling and draw a pencil line around it). 2. Insert nonmetallic cable (stripped or unstripped) into the Auto/Clamp® cable entry. 3. Pull cable through to desired length. The cable is automatically secured without the need to install separate clamps. 4. Insert the box into the ceiling with swing bracket flat to the box. Turn screw clockwise with screwdriver, which will turnthe swing bracket to upright position, and tighten until snug against the ceiling. (Swing out brackets permit installation of box in ceilings 1-1/4" down to 1/8" thick).

If the C118WAC was mounted in the ceiling to a structural member with 4 #8 1" screws through the bottom of the box, would this allow me to increase the fixture weight of the box?

The C118WAC box can be rated above 6 pounds but below 50 pounds for in wall use only. "Old work boxes" Can NOT support a fixture of 50 pounds or more in a wall. Can NOT support a fixture of more than 6 pounds in a ceiling.

can you give me the center to center measurement of the holes that a fixture mounts to?

Someone needs to look at something with the C118WAC. It no longer fits in a 3 3/4 hole. The plastic for the support of the swing brackets is enlarged from what it used to be, making it no longer for in the hole.

Is the C118WAC rated for luminaire support when installed in a ceiling. (5/8 Drywall, Truss framing 24o.c)

The C118WAC is not rated for Luminaire support. It is Suitable for in-ceiling use for supporting weights up to up to 6 lbs.
