Questions & Answers

65501 box does not hang low enough for the fire rated ceiling. Is it acceptable to drill two new holes in the end plate support above the existing ones?

Asked by: George
Hello, We cannot recommend drilling or altering the part number 65501, as it will void the UL listing. Best Regards, Technical Support

Hi we want to install a 20 lbs pendant light, the builder installed the box but the 10 32 screw were not provided ,can I buy my own 10 32 screw and install the pendant. Wanted to ask why the fixture has two settings one for fixture and other for fan

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes you can use your own screw as long as it's the same size. The box has 2 separate weight ratings one for a fan (70lb) and the other for a lighting fixture (110lb).

Is the connecter built into the 65501 rated for NM Wire (Romex)? I have a inspector looking for documentation stating that it is but we can't find anything that talks about the connecter.

Asked by: Cris Winn
The internal clamps usually have an “N” stamped into them indicating they are rated for use with NM cable. Also the hardware packet has a rubber grommet that can also be used in the knockouts for NM wire(romex cable).
