How does this wire? Are all terminations enclosed within this device or is there a specialty back box needed?

Thank you for your inquiry. Flanged Outlet, part number 5279SS, is considered a Surface Receptacle, which includes an enclosure and mounting means for surface mounting without the use of a separate outlet box. They are intended for connection to exposed nonmetallic-sheathed cable as permitted by Article 334 of the NEC.
