Questions & Answers
We are having problems on an install from 2023 with LED drivers failing. The fixtures are controlled via an LMRC-611MCC. If the fixture load exceeds the 10a the relay module is rated for could that damage LED drivers?
If the fixture load exceeds the rated output of the LMRC-611MCC (10A), any immediate damage would more likely occur to the room controller itself rather than to the connected LED drivers. The LMRC-611MCC functions as a switching device, passing through line voltage, so it does not alter the voltage being delivered to the fixtures.
Regarding dimming, the LMRC-611MCC operates as a 0-10V sinking device. It does not actively dim the fixtures but instead provides a variable resistance on the 0-10V control line, signaling the fixture's internal driver to adjust its output along its dimming curve. Therefore, failures in the LED drivers are unlikely to be caused by the dimming function of the controller.
