2.75 x 4.5 is the size of the standard “SS8” The “SSO8” is supposed to be “Oversized”, does it have the same dimensions as the standard? Why call it oversized?

No, is doesn't have the same dimensions. The 1 gang "oversized" or "jumbo" plates are 3.5" x 5.25"
