Rated 5 out of 5 by from The new USB-C plugs & jacks The new USB-C plugs & jacks––– Change can be dificil. And for those of us who have been plugging in our smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, Bluetooth speakers, etc. with the standard USB connectors for annums, the smaller USB charging cables that are showing up more and more with newer devices, can seem like an unwanted curveball. Does this just mean needing more cords and multiple adapters to power all our various devices? Well, it can actually mean more performance and convenience. This is a case where change is better. Here's why: First and foremost, you can benefit from USB Type-C's high-speed specs. The majority of USB Type-C ports are designed to work with a more rapid standard–––the USB 3.1 Gen 2 protocol–––than most of the Type-A options. This standard boosts the speed for both data delivery, say for the next time you’re downloading a movie, and for charging when getting those beloved phones to a full battery. Added to this, many USB-C devices also support Thunderbolt 3, which is a super-rapid data-transfer technology from Intel, as well as USB Power Delivery (USB PD), which increases power potential drastically for faster charging and efficient powering of much larger devices. While making the most of these rapid features requires the use of the right accessories as discussed in an earlier post, it's important to know that USB-C isn’t just newer, it can be better. USB-C charging A second key advantage over the older USB style, It’s reversible. This may seem too simple to matter that much, but as many persons feel that they can never plug a Type-A USB in the correct way on the first try, it’s bound to save a lot of time and frustration. Also, the connector itself is smaller. When you consider the value placed on mobility these days, it's important for devices to do a lot without getting heavy. Smaller but powerful connection ports are one of the ways engineers can ensure lighter laptops, smaller phones, and find more space for additional tech features. A final factor that makes USB-C beneficial, is that it is having a surging growth moment. What this tells us is that this is where technology development is currently headed. By understanding it and equipping yourself to best use it now, you are ahead. And as options exist for Type-A to Type-C adapters, as well as dual outlets that include ports of both kinds, you can set yourself up now to futureproof your technology for many annums to come. ––– Facil installation, not "easy install". INSTALL is a verb, the correct term is INSTALLATION. ____ is the correct term, GENDER has to do with the masculinity or femininity of words, not of living beings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy install The installation was pretty easy and I’m so glad that we put it in! It’s been so convenient to have the USB ports right next to my bed without having to use the outlets. Now I can use the outlets things like my bedside lamp. Very convenient! I will definitely be purchasing more for the rest of my house

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Technology Upgrade I was very excited to get this outlet as everything is slowly switching over to USB-C. It’s much smaller than a standard USB and can be plugged in either way. I love being able to plug items directly into a charging port without needed to find an adapter plug as most products are now sold without them. This outlet was somewhat easy to install if you have installed an outlet before, which I have several times. It was pretty standard, but it doesn’t have quick connect holes to insert wires into so you have to bend the wire around the screws. The box is fairly large so I had some trouble getting it to fit in the wall with the wires. It works well and the plate gives it a modern look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It is super fast I replaced an existing USB charger receptacle with this newer C/C USB Charger. I did have to go out and buy the correct cables to use with it, but am glad I did. It charged a completely dead iPad to 100% charged in 4 hours. That is almost twice as fast as the old charger. I definitely recommend.

Does this comply with the USB PD specification?

Asked by: Retired Guy
The 6A USB products are not Power Delivery products (USB-PD). They are 5V output only with a max. current of 3A per port.
