Rated 5 out of 5 by from "You must unlearn what you have learned." -Yoda Recently purchased one of these switches on sale from Amazon. As others have pointed out, the instructions are not as intuitive as they could be. But, the diagrams for connecting the wires for all possible configurations is very straight forward. Black goes to the incoming hot or feed for all scenarios, red for the load, yellow is the signal wire for other radiant timers (or one of the "travelers" in 3-way configs, they call it the "runner"), white goes to neutral, and the ground screw for your equipment grounding conductor. The single pole configuration is much easier to work with because it's pretty standard, whereas the 3-way is not traditional by any means. This is where Yoda's wise words directly apply. You are required to know which wires are your incoming hot and outgoing load, especially for 3-way retrofitting applications. This will save you time, because you may need to use the now spare "traveler" as the means for bringing connection to either your feed or load to the radiant timer. What was very surprising to me was the use of the common, on a paired 3-way switch, to be grounded per their instructions. It left me wondering if using the circuit neutral, the grounded conductor, would suffice or if the equipment grounding conductor is the only conductor permitted; I used the EGC and it worked as intended. *Always follow the manufacturer's instructions* As a licensed electrician, I appreciate that there is only one way to install and program this device through the instructions. Very easy to catch a mistake this way. These installation instructions coupled with the programming of the device are very much to the "T" and leave no room for error. I actually had to use a timer during the programming phase to initiate the time-delay and initiate occupancy mode; would recommend since you can overshoot on your own phyiscal count. Using the charts for the desired functions was easy with the blinking LED as a reference for each setting present and just pressing the button to move on to the next. I would not consider this an easy switch for those just looking to plug-and-play but it does what it was designed to do. If you follow the instructions, it will work. I will be buying more of these to install on other projects in the future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well just not the range I needed for my gara Works well except range of motion detection is not far enough to see me when on my treadmill on the other side of the garage. I thinking of setting up something that moves constantly within the range of the meter so the lights don’t shut off mid run! Any help from Legrand would be a big help.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor Instructions I was this close to returning to Lowe’s before coming on this site to learn that the brown wire is not needed. After eliminating that wire, it worked like a champ. I also learned that their is no manual On/Off, only manual On. My wife is going to have fits with that limitation. May be going back anyway.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor instructions This faux "switch" comes with RED/BLACK/YELLOW wires. The instructions do no not clearly state what the yellow wire is for. Found out that you can not use it to turn off the light/fan. You need to wait until it runs its cycle of 1/5/10 mins etc. Bought at Lowes - Will be returning it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lousy instructions... The instructions do not properly address what to do with the existing wires. For example, when wiring to a second Sensor switch in a 3-way circuit, nothing is mentioned about the second black runner wire. The first runner is connected to the yellow wire on the switch which is then connected to the yellow wire on the second switch. The red switch wire is not connect and capped. The Line wire is connected to the black wire on the switch but what do you do with the second runner wire? Cannot get the switches to work as shown.

The RRW600UTC can be put into Auto-On mode(occupancy) by holding the button for 15 seconds, then press on/off button until you get to one blink on the led. You can contact Technical Support if you still need assistance with the programming. The RRW600VTC is Vacancy mode only(manual on). How do I adjust the time delay?

Asked by: Sara
With the load ON or OFF, hold down the ON/OFF button for 10 seconds then release. LED will blink 5 times and then turn off . Enters Time Delay Adjustment Mode and the number of blinks indicates what the time delay is set at. 1 blink - 30 seconds, 2 blinks - 5 minutes, 3 blinks - 10 minutes, 4 blinks - 15 minutes, 5 blinks - 30 minutes. You can change the time delay by pressing and releasing the ON/OFF button and it will cycle through the different time options. Once you have your time set, press and hold the ON/OFF button for 10 seconds See attached Time Delay Table

I have wired two sensors together in a 3- way. It works OK, but it seems like if I'm in one area (near just 1 sensor), the other sensor will turn the light off because it hasn't detected motion during the time delay. Is this a known issue?

I would confirm that both sensors have their time delays set for the same length of minutes.

Hi, I am confused by the instructions on the existing 3 way switch. Am I supposed to: 1. Leave the runner wire attached. 2. Ground one of the poles on the switch. 3. Cap off remaining wire? Can you provide a diagram or picture? Thanks.

Here the wiring options for the sensor in a 3way, Diagram 3 or 4 are when installing it with a 3way switch and depends on whether the sensor is on the HOT or LOAD side of your 3way.

how to reset the switch?

Asked by: don1948
Turning off the breaker to the sensor will do a hard reset on it: There is an initial warm-up (about 1 minute) and calibration period the first time power is applied to the unit and after the load is replaced. The warm-up sequence also occurs as a result of a power failure, and any time power to the unit is cycled.

What is the correct way to wire two of these switches as a 3-way circuit. Switch one will be the power source, with a three wire cable going to the next switch and then two wire cable going to the light.

Asked by: Matt
The RRW600U sensors are electronic devices so both of them need power(black wire) and only one(master sensor) also has load connection(light - red wire). The yellow traveler wire is connected between the two sensors(as shown in diagram). I can get my switch into Time Adjustment mode by holding down the on/off button for 10 seconds, but I can't get to Working Mode by holding for 15 sec or LED mode for 25 sec. Is there something I'm missing here?

Asked by: Nick G
It was the ground. It somehow lost the ground when I moved it. They will not work without ground. I found an excellent manual that is very clear. Look up Lagrand Radiant RRW600u manual It is simply a switch for Hot, but needs a ground.

My Lagrand was working fine. I moved it to a location on my stairwell that will make it work sooner. I lengthened the wire about 18". Red to load and black to hot. It is grounded. LED not on. hold on off 10 seconds 15 seconds 25 seconds, nothing.

Is the interior of the motion sensor cover accessible such that you can insert tape to reduce the area of coverage (vs. taping the outside which is not as aesthetic)?

If I want to reduce the degrees of detection for a stairway (so it only comes on when someone starts up the stairs vs. everytime one passes by the stairs), can I use white electrical tape to partially cover the sensor?

Any way to 'manually' turn on the switch and not have it time out and turn off. I've installed it in my garage and love the way it works until I'm under the hood of a car and the lights go off!

Why did the designers of this model remove two of the most valuable features, the ability to turn the load off in any setting, and the ability to fine tune the delay to two minutes? Is there a model that still has these capabilities?

Our current sensors have set time delays, which go from 30 seconds and then to 5 minutes and you should be able to turn the load off whenever needed.
