Can I mount an S122R from the ceiling to hang a LED disc light form it or a smoke detector on it? The disc light weighs less than a smoke detector.
The UL number is for this box but the rating is for 6 lbs. if mounted vertically. When dealing with inspectors who have little to no common sense every word matters!!

Thank you for your question, Please review the following response below that is referenced from the attached UL 2hour fire rating document.
UL 2hour Fire Rating: Part S122R
Clearance between boxes and cutouts in ceiling shall not exceed 1/8 in. The area of openings for boxes shall not aggregate more than 31 sq in. Per 100 sq ft of ceiling area with no opening exceeding 8 sq in. No box shall be located within 4.5ft of another box.

Can the 18r single gang be mounted in clinging and how much weight can it hold
The S118R is designed for wall vertical mount and if a box is not marked with a specific weight then it has a 6lbs maximum fixture rating.
