Product Overview
What is Itray Ladder Cable Tray?
Itray Ladder Cable Tray is a modular cable management system designed to support and route power, data and fiber cabling in commercial, industrial and data center environments. The system combines strength, scalability and fast installation with a wide range of fittings, accessories and finishes.
How is Itray different from traditional ladder systems?
Itray is designed to simplify installation and reduce labor compared to many traditional ladder tray systems. Features such as mid-span splicing, modular components and coordinated accessories help streamline layout changes, field modifications and future expansion.
What types of projects is Itray best suited for?
Itray is commonly used in data centers, commercial buildings, industrial facilities, healthcare environments, educational campuses, manufacturing plants, and infrastructure and utility projects.
Design & System Capabilities
What tray widths are available?
Itray Ladder Cable Tray is available in multiple tray widths to support different cable fill requirements and project needs. Available sizes vary by tray series and configuration.
What tray lengths are available?
Standard tray sections are available in multiple lengths depending on project requirements and loading needs. Longer section lengths may help reduce installation time and splice locations.
What load ratings are available?
Itray offers multiple NEMA load rating options to support varying cable loads, spans and installation environments.
Can Itray support both power and data cabling?
Yes. Itray can be used to support power, fiber and low-voltage cabling depending on system design and applicable code requirements.
Is Itray suitable for future expansion?
Yes. The modular design allows facilities to expand or modify cable pathways as infrastructure needs evolve.
Installation & Labor Savings
How does Itray help reduce installation time?
Features such as modular fittings, reduced splice hardware and coordinated accessories can help simplify installation, reduce field fabrication and improve project efficiency.
Can Itray be modified in the field?
Yes. Many system components can be adjusted or modified on-site to accommodate project changes or installation conditions.
Does Itray support phase construction or expansion?
Yes. The modular system design makes it easier to expand pathways or add additional tray sections over time.
Materials & Finishes
What materials are available?
Itray Ladder Cable Tray is available in aluminum.
Where are Itray products manufactured?
Manufacturing locations may vary by product type and region. Contract Legrand or your local representative for specific manufacturing information related to your project.
Compatibility & System Integration
Which covers are compatible with each fitting?
Compatible covers vary depending on tray series, fitting type and tray width. Product-specific documentation and fitting charts can help identify the correct cover combinations for each configuration.
Are fire wall penetration sleeves available for Itray?
Yes. Fire-rated penetration solutions are available for select applications and tray widths. Compatibility depends on wall construction, tray size and applicable fire-rating requirements.
Can Itray integrate with other cable management systems?
Yes. Itray can integrate with a range of cable management and support solutions depending on the project application.
Accessories & Expansion Components
What accessories are available?
Available accessories include a gap splice, covers, dividers, splice kits, drop-outs, support brackets, grounding components and expansion splice plates.
Are expansion fittings available?
Yes. Expansion components are available to accommodate thermal movement and building expansion requirements.
Where should the Itray Gap Splice be used?
The Itray Gap Splice is designed to bridge small gaps that may occur between straight ladder tray sections and/or fittings when tray spacing is not exact. Instead of cutting down a short section of ladder tray in the field, the Gap Splice provides a faster, cleaner solution to maintain tray continuity.
What problem does the Itray Gap Splice solve?
During installation, minor gaps between tray sections are common and traditionally require cutting ladder tray to lengths under 12 inches—a time-consuming and labor-intensive process. The Itray Gap Splice eliminates the need for this field fabrication, helping crews keep installations moving efficiently.
How large of a gap can the Itray Gap Splice cover?
The Itray Gap Splice can bridge tray run gaps of up to 24 inches (two feet), providing flexibility when spacing inconsistencies occur during installation.
Are rungs required when using the Itray Gap Splice?
Rungs are not always required. The Gap Splice kit includes optional rungs and rung adder brackets that can be used when additional cable support is needed—typically for larger gaps. Smaller gaps, generally under 6 inches, may not require added rungs depending on the application.
Can the Itray Gap Splice be used with different tray widths?
Yes. The splice plates themselves are not affected by tray width. Rungs are available in 18-inch and 36-inch widths and may be cut down in the field to match the width of the installed tray system as needed.
What field modifications are required for installation?
The Gap Splice plates include pre-drilled holes on one end. Holes on the opposite end are field drilled to match the specific gap length during installation. The splice plates—and optional rungs, if used—may also be cut down in the field as needed to fit the application.
What is included in the Itray Gap Splice kit?
Each Gap Splice kit includes two long splice plates, rung adder brackets, rungs, and all required hardware for installation.
Is the Itray Gap Splice specific to the Itray system?
Yes. The Gap Splice is engineered specifically for use with Itray ladder cable tray, providing a more integrated and consistent solution compared to generic splice or coupler options.
What material is the Itray Gap Splice made from?
The Gap Splice components are manufactured from aluminum.
How does the Itray Gap Splice support sustainability goals?
By eliminating the need to cut short sections of ladder tray in the field, the Gap Splice helps reduce material waste and scrap while minimizing rework during installation.
Codes, Standards & Compliance
Does Itray meet NEMA standards?
Yes. Itray systems are designed and tested to applicable NEMA cable tray standards.
Is Itray NEC compliant?
When properly installed, Itray systems are designed to support installations in accordance with applicable NEC requirements.
Are seismic solutions available?
Yes. Seismic support and bracing solutions may be available depending on project requirements and applicable building codes.
