How to Set Up a Gateway for Smart Lighting with Netatmo Devices

The system starts with a smart lighting gateway, connected to the home’s Wi-Fi network.
Do I Need a Hub for my Smart Lighting Devices?
Legrand’s Smart Lighting with Netatmo system does require a hub/gateway. The Smart Gateway offers numerous advantages, including long-lasting battery-powered devices and less network congestion for family members.
Benefits of a Smart Lighting Gateway
- Set up is easy and straightforward.
- It serves as a hub in your smart home for your “with Netatmo” devices.
- It connects to your home’s Wi-Fi network and establishes a local mesh network for your devices to connect to.
- Allows for remote control of devices through the Legrand Home + Control app or through voice assistants (Amazon Alexa, Google Home or Apple HomeKit).
- Enables you to easily control all smart lighting switches, dimmers and outlets throughout your home.
1. The In-Wall Gateway is installed in a standard electrical box in place of a switch or outlet. It is ideal for new construction.
2. The Smart Gateway Surface Mount is installed on the surface of the wall, alongside a single-gang switch or outlet. It is ideal for retrofits and renovations.
For optimal performance, install the Gateway near your home’s Wi-Fi router. The Smart Gateway is available in both the adorne® and radiant® Collections to match the home’s existing designer switches and outlets.
Set Up Your Smart Lighting Gateway
Ensure the smart gateway is installed and power is restored to the electrical box. Download and install the Home + Control App (App Store or Play Store) Connect your smartphone to your home’s 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Open the Legrand Home + Control App and sign-up or log in to your Netatmo account, then press start.
- Next, select the Legrand brand. Select the Legrand Smart Gateway.
- To start the setup, press next. Confirm access to your Wi-Fi network.
- Locate the easy button on your gateway.
- Depress and hold the button for 5 seconds.
- The light on the gateway will turn solid green.
- Perform the same operation a second time. Depress and hold the button for 5 seconds. The light on the gateway will flash green. Your gateway is now ready to be connected to your network.
- Follow the on-screen instructions in the app to connect to your Gateway. The process is different depending on the device (Apple or Android) you are using for setup.
- Once complete, follow the on-screen prompts to finish the setup. Your gateway is now configured.
- To proceed with your installation, press next. You can now move from room to room and add additional devices.
Keep in mind that the Legrand Smart Gateway has a 98-device limit. However, if you have more devices, you can use multiple gateways within a single house.
Resetting Your Gateway
If you encounter issues during the setup process, you can attempt a complete factory reset of your Netatmo gateway. Resetting to factory settings will completely lose all associated devices with the gateway. To do so, hold down the Easy button on the gateway for 20 seconds.
